ABOUT BRIAN McGINN

Brian McGinn co-directed and edited the acclaimed documentary American Teacher, which was narrated by Matt Damon, and released theatrically in Fall 2011. Critics called it "stirring [and] blisteringly immediate," (Film Journal), "a heartfelt, bittersweet portrait" (The New York Times), and "a film about education that gets it exactly right." (The Washington Post). It was named by Mother Jones as one of the best documentaries of 2011.

McGinn is currently directing and editing the documentary The Record Breaker, about Guinness Record Breaker Ashrita Furman, for Plus Pictures and the Danish Film Institute. He is also developing a feature hybrid documentary with jazz legend Kenny G. In 2008, McGinn produced and edited The Frozen City, which premiered at the AFI Film Festival in Dallas, Texas and was broadcast on ESPN and CurrenTV.

Besides documentary work, McGinn directs commercials, music videos and original comedy short films, including content for Funny or Die. His ongoing viral video collaborations with actors Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (and frequent directing partner Rod Blackhurst) have garnered attention across the internet as well as millions of hits.

McGinn has contributed to McSweeney's and The New Yorker, and other work has been featured on MySpace, Wired.com, Adult Swim and Wholphin. He graduated from Duke University with a degree in English.
